Basically Amanda regrets that videos have Elliot's old name and gender identity mentioned. Which I think is a bit silly. I don't think anyone outside of Elliot's closest friends and family should feel regret about something like. It was a moment in time with no insult intended.

Calling Elliot Ellen now or using female pronouns is of course a different story.

Surely we would do what we do when someone changes their name for any other reason. When talking about the movie now, we'd say starring Elliott Page. Ellen Page is a FKA, which for transpeople is a more sensitive issue than in other situations

In your eyes if we don't call Her "Bruce" it means we can't acknowledge her Olympic accomplishments, but at the same time, you're fine with acknowledging Ali's accomplishments from when he was Clay without mentioning Clay...Can't have it both ways, man. Just call people what they prefer to be called.

Whenever I see the new name (elliot or caitlyn) I'll think of the deadname because that's the one I knew, grew up with or whatever, but that's on me

Again, it refers to a time when he starred in movies under the name Ellen and not the person. It says a lot about a person when they would rather argue in bad faith against an implication theyve misconstrued, rather than simply listening to reason.

not in english, it doesn't. pronouns can only refer to previously established nouns. since there is zero prior context to your topic title, the only noun available for that "it" to replace is "Elliot Page".

That's probably not a big deal.

Like, it takes time for the brain to be able to shift gears like that.

If you see their name, think of the deadname, and then intentionally use the deadname, that's when it becomes a problem.
