I actually just got to where I'm about to challenge the first one and thought the same thing. I had to dump half my team because they were Wondertrades and stopped listening to me lmao BloodMoon7 posted... They don't want you to find out how small the gym challenge is too quickly. The main game is really short, the towns are small, and the challenges are easy.

Some towns are the very representation of a hop and a skip away, the wild area is essentially most of the Galar region.

The gap between gym #1 and 2 in Kalos was huge as well. Made me excited for how big X/Y was gonna be, but every gym after that passed by at breakneck speed :/

It's not really that far, it's just that with EXP Share automatically on, and the ease with which you level up anyway, you're overpowered af by the time you get there.
