For me it was Child's Play (technically first was a foreign horror movie but Chucky was the first mainstream one). I think I was like 5 or something. A friend's older brother and his group were watching it so we watched too so we could fit in with the bigger kids. Shit scared me lol

I was afraid of Chucky when I was a kid. Then I had a dream where I caught him waiting in ambush for me. I pulled him out of his hiding spot and threw him up against a wall.

After that, I was no longer afraid of him. :)

I thought of this scene too. Remains one of my favourite horror movies.

Also I was very young when I watched the first Scary Movie and that scared me a bit. Scream 3 to as well. Ghostface has always creeped me out.

That's like taking your kid to a cabin in the woods with a bunch of windows and telling him that campfire story of the paintings in the cabin.

What the fuck man.

This will have been mid 90s, so if anyone has a clue of what it could have been, I'd appreciate it.

I grew up watching scary movies including the Nightmare on Elm Street movies as a little kid. None of them scared me. I always told myself and my younger cousin who got scared easily that if it were real, they would attack the cameraman. However, a few years later I saw 13 Ghosts and From Hell when I was in the 5th grade. For some reason, these movies creeped me the fuck out lol. To this day these are the only movies that ever scared me.

Also, here's something funny. Scary movies like Freddy Krueger didn't scare me as a kid. Yet those fuzzies from the level Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy in Yoshi's Island on SNES scared the shit out of me when i was like kindergarten age. Every time they'd come on screen, I'd have to get out of the room or turn the TV off lol.

Mine is Night of the Living Dead and probably for the same reason. Karen Coopers scream when her daughter is stabbing her.

Although it has gone on to become probably my favorite movie.

I'm not sure. I guess my real intention was to relate the experience of seeing a movie I was terrified of as a kid with others, and see what movies other people picked and imagine/relate to the fear of seeing X movie as a youngn. I mentioned Chucky because although it's the second movie, it's the first movie I'd be able to relate to with others. Idk I didn't think about it too much, I just kinda made the topic on a trailing thought and rough drafted it.

BTW here's the movie I was referencing just for context. It's not even meant to be an actual horror movie, it's a comedy movie about IIRC two guys who want to buy a place, one guy kinda does something a little shady to get the house over the 2nd guy, and the 2nd guy dresses up like a ghost and possesses the house and torments the guy who bought it so that he moves out. He sings a classic folk song whenever he shows up and there's something still faintly unsettling whenever I hear the melody.

Alien
The dinner scene was too much for the pre-schooler me.Which set me up for the next film....

Alien:Resurrection
My parents took me with them to the cinema despite my insistence of not wanting to go.
As the movie was playing,I turned my back to the screen and looked at the audiences seated behind us instead.

I eventually got bored and tired from kneeling in my seat.I turned around and absorbed all the sounds and lights of the black horror.

For at least a week.I remembered myself crying alone in my own bed unable to sleep from the aftershock of having view my biggest childhood phobia.

I'm a big Xenomorph now.I went and watched the Prometheus and Alien:covenant premier alone.

Some Troma type movie that was playing at my aunt's house (my uncle must have been watching it before the family party and just left the tv on. I wandered in and ended up regretting it). From what I can recall, there was some cult and one of them squeezed a dude to death and made vomit out blood and organs and then there was some cauldron with severed head stew in it. Kinda traumatized me for a bit. If I saw it today though I would probably laugh and be like "this actually affected me?"
