Research something specific about that bank that you can mention. Even if its bullshit itll show you took the time to learn about their company

lie

this question is a mix of "kiss our ass" and "prove you'll do pointless busywork because we asked/you know we were going to ask"

Just dress up the main message of "I can bring something to the table"

"I feel I'd be a good fit for the team because (X about you) and (Y about bank)"

But, ya know, gussy it up

Basically this. You want to do a little bit of ass-kissing here and tell them why you are choosing them to apply to, as opposed to the many other banks that you could be (and honestly probably are) applying to. Frame it in a way that represents your self-interest, however. Is it a big, national level bank? You want to be able to put that name on your resume because you know the kind of respect that will command as you progress through your career. Is it a regional bank? Talk about your connections to the region and how that banks presence in the region makes it feel more like a community you want to engage with. Is it a small, local credit union? Talk about the importance of small businesses to the community and how you engaging in that sort of community-building gives you a sense of fulfillment. Talk about what your goals are long-term and how this specific bank, and working with the populations it serves, can help you reach those.

Yeah, basically research about the bank and basically tell them how excited you are too work for them, specifically.

For example, JPMorgan Chase has an "about us" page that says they are one of the oldest financial institutions in the US, with a history dating back over 200 years. It also mentions their core principles: delivering exceptional client service; acting with integrity and responsibility; and supporting the growth of our employees.

You can mention things like that as why their bank stood out to you.
