The tutorial is like 5 hours long but once you get your 4th party member, you're go to go.

As for Royal specific, make sure you rank up Kasumi, Maruki, and Akechi as much as possible since their S Links contribute to the new content >_>

I guess the main thing would be to max the new confidants sooner then later. They have deadlines. If you Google a "choice guide" for them, make sure you find a spoiler free one lol.

Other than that, all of the changes are explained as you go, so you won't really miss anything.

The walkthrough by marendarade on this site is really good for helping ensure you don't miss anything without going into spoilers. I'd recommend the "ACE" walkthrough in their guide so you can see all the game events.
