Gender can be fluid. Some men have feminine characteristics, some women have masculine characteristics. To varying degrees those characteristics are expressed, but sometimes even become dominant characteristics.

Other cultures I've read about in an anthropology class in college have figured this out thousands of years ago.

there are a completely arbitrary amount of genders entirely based on your own acknowledgement of how many genders there are. and regardless of whether you recognize 1 or 1000 it does not at all affect that anyone can be themselves.
