Planning a wedding now and our budget has been $30k

No idea if we are going to be over/under. The budget was a pre-COVID budget

How much for venue, food, and photos?

Venue was about 4k but we got super lucky there. It was a gorgeous state park, which subsidized the cost, and we called them every day to ask about cancellations since they were booked up. We could have done a half day for 2k but we wanted a block of time in between halves so we took it all.

Food was about 10k. It's a big chunk of cost but we shopped around and found a middle-of-the-road option price wise with top-tier taste.

Photos were also 4k. Found a newer photographer through a friend whose talent we believed in.

35k was a lot but it felt like a 50k wedding.

Our budget was $10k for about 75 people. It was supposed to be this past December but covid ruined it. Should be around $8k for a 1 year anniversary reception since everyone threw free stuff/discounts at us to not pull our deposits.

Date? And would you consider changing the budget due to covid

End of July for us. I'm really not sure yet what the day is going to look like. We had invitations all sent out last year before COVID and had to postpone to a new date. We're thinking we will have less people there assuming we go forward with the new date, than we would have for the old date, just due to safety concerns, travel, etc.

I don't think we are considering changing the budget, we are prepared to go over budget if need be. But it's possible we end up spending less money if our headcount is less than we planned for.

Family member of mine spent around $50K. It was a ton of fun, really cool experience as a guest, but personally Id prefer to just keep it lowkey and go to the courthouse.

The majority of our guests either were local or planned on driving, but there were some that would have needed to fly by plane. Of those people I think not all of them had bought tickets yet. I do know at least one or two aunts/uncles that ended up not getting money back from the airlines though :/

But I think people were generally disappointed in the delay, not in us, just sad we had to postpone our date and there was obviously so much uncertainty at that time that no one really knew what was going to happen. Everyone had a lot of sympathy for us for having to postpone.

We hadn't even gotten all RSVPs back yet when everything shut down in March

Can you breakdown your 10k wedding cost?

-Venue/food- like $3k-we jumped on this as they're pretty inclusive and made us do like zero planning. Open bar. They provide everything. We essentially just picked a color scheme and a menu. We're not picky at all. We have a room for a ceremony and then across the hall is the reception. It's at a not popular wedding month so they gave us the nice room for the regular room price. Then later we got a minor discount for not insisting on getting our deposit back when we moved the date a year.

-Flowers- like $800-we are renting fake ones but keeping the bouquets. This was dramatically cheaper. Also got discounted for paying for all of it like a year ago and not asking for it back.

-DJ-like $800 with tip

-Invitations-Fuck that. Like $100. I'm printing them at work and we designed them with a template. Only thing I'm paying for is paper/stamps.

-Photography-I work in the industry so im exploiting connections. $1k and then any prints are at cost.

-Dress-$2k-yikes

-Tux rental/bridesmaids stuff-like $500. We each only have 2 people on each side

Then if you count it, our honeymoon is a cruise that costs about $2k, which again they threw a bunch of extra stuff at us
