Customer: They weren't stolen AT your store, but somewhere else in the mall. And not just your items, but other store purchases as well. I want you to waive shipping and give me a discount to rebuy the items online

i agree. supposed to have an iron grip on those bags or at the very least take a risk and leave em in the trunk. only the most dedicated thieves will risk stealing from a locked trunk.

Another scenario

At the grocery store, you finish paying for your stuff and as your leaving (but still in the store), you drop your gallon of milk and it breaks open everywhere.
Does the store replace the item for free?

Were they in the store or parking lot? If it's still in the store I'd replace it. If it happens in the parking lot then it's not my problem.

In a gesture of good-will, I vote yes. Unless the customer was being a Karen to the cashier or other workers. Then charge them again if they want a new one.

one time i had a jar of prego pasta sauce break after i grab the bag. it was limited to the contents of one bag and had to clean a few boxes of pasta from the sauce. was out 2$.

from best to worse:

1. Classico

3. Safeway Brand

This happened to me when I worked in retail

A girl got her purse snatched (outside of the store) and demanded a refund of everything she bought.... But since it was stolen including the receipt, she couldn't even prove what she bought and just demanded money saying we had to trust her

And guess what happened CE?

Managemet caved and just gave her over $200

This is why Karens exist
