I like stuff like this, however, this happening is bound to happen sooner or later I think with just 3 digits. As I'm playing I get a kick out of stuff like this happening with numbers though. Just was playing Chrono Trigger, I just have to go through the Black Omen in 1000 AD and maybe 600AD too then fight Lavos

It absolutely does. One of the best games with time travel, and the execution of certain story events still grabs me.

I'm saving that for absolute last. I just did Sun Stone, Rainbow Shell, Northern Ruins, Fiona's Shrine, and I'm saving Robo's sidequest for last, since the boss at the end of that dungeon is pretty hard. Then onto the Black Omen and grind to max level. Did you do it in the future too?

Right but how can you tell like which stat you're dumping points into or which item refills HP, etc. I can barely manage RPGs in english

speed
magic power
evasion
physical strength
magic defense

Of course, you can just do like I did with the English version just like I do now with the Japanese version, and just look at the sword icon for your overall attack, and the shield icon for your overall defense. I don't really look at the specific stats unless I'm doing something that calls for it, like fighting Spekkio.

See all that? That screen is almost completely katakana. Which means they're a lot of English words.

potion. Most useful word for an RPG.
middle potion
high potion
ether
middle ether
high ether
elixir
super ether
last elixir
power capsule
magic capsule
speed capsule

Look at all those English words written in Japanese. So it's not that hard to play games in Japanese. Even someone like me can do it, and I don't know anything.

Yes I've only done it in the future. Got all the panel speed tabs, but skipped a few power tabs from Tubster enemy.

I've been getting all the capsules from the field, but haven't really bothered with getting them from bosses. However, I do plan on trying to get enough to max out all characters' stats after they reach level 100.

Actually, can you even do Black Omen in the future? I haven't actually stopped by to check yet, but I could vaguely recall that you can't do it in the future. I don't quite remember. I think it was because Queen Zeal was satified that Lavos destroyed the world, so she put the place on lockdown, or something.

Also, it's a shame Chrono Trigger's gameplay wasn't copied by anything else. It was such a unique and cool battle system that I would have loved to see it done again in other games. Sadly, not even Chrono Cross copied it. We didn't get anything like it again until Setsuna.

Of that era, it holds up more than all the others. Not too difficult, great mechanics and story, not overly long, you don't need a guide... Super Mario RPG and this are the only ones I come back to years later

Are the load times of the PSX version REALLY that bad on Vita? Because I'm a sound purist and didn't like the Sound Effects of the DS remake.

The sound effects are different? That's a drag, how much of them?

The load times aren't great. It's the worst part of playing it in today's age considering it's an RPG and random battles are frequent. It's just long enough to irk you, but the worst by far are load times for entering the menus >.<

Very playable, just unfortunate. The DS version has extra content as well I've heard. I'd buy a copy if I saw it in the wild, but it seems rarer than any other 'great' SNES title

Theres no more access to ps3/psp games from pc. They are planning on shutting down the servers in July but perhaps its been dont early. So, i dont have access to all the psx classic rpgs i bought

I was looking through a lot of screenshots of alpha stuff that were in magazines.





Overworld was totally different. I like those shadow effects from the clouds.



Also, what the hell is this? This is a completely different scene. What are those crystals supposed to be? Time crystals or something? It looks like Schala had more direct involvement with helping Chrono. Stuff like this makes me really curious what their original ideas were.



And this is a totally unique dungeon tileset that's not even in the prototype or pre-release versions. Looks really detailed, too. Seems like a lot of work went into it, but I guess they scrapped it pretty early on. My guess is this would've been another Zeal dungeon.

I wish I was. And there's nothing really stopping you. If I can do it, anyone can. You could try getting it off the PSN like I did before it closes. Otherwise, you're gonna have to go on eBay.
