Like how recently they employed someone they shouldn't have (dodgy background shit) and then le redditeurs reacted by shutting down all their communities as some kind of freedom fighter stand for unity against the establishment

(of course, none of the communities that matter. Just the weird fringe ones. And it was like 6 hours, so I guess if you really like /r/trashy or whatever then that would have been a mild bummer)

And then, when reddit subsequently fired this person and made the announcement that they fucked up, redditors show their anger by upvoting critical comments and gilding the posters. In other words, we are so angry at you reddit that we are going to flood you with money.

Especially when it involves some social group reddit doesn't like or """censorship""" so that people can act out being freedom fighters by upvote farming and hiveminding the same way they always do.

Reddit is only good for browsing. Trying to have a discussion there is like trying to self-treat brain cancer. The mods there are the worst on the web if you omit Facebook group mods/admins.

To be fair, it was in response to banning anyone who mentioned a former politicians name that caused them to shut down their subs, not just the hiring someone who defended and employed a nonce who tortured children (who happened to be their father)

Not that I think it really did much as I didn't even notice until after the individual in question had been fired, or even realise the subs that did close down had closed down. The whole giving posts awards) and reddit money is amusing though, but did at least see some posts that got them telling people to stop being idiots.

A sick little part of me just enjoys seeing how carried away people get with this stuff, like they're all employed by reddit too and part of the reddit democracy...and totally not just a marketing product that reddit is selling for big money

Okay, but this person actively supported her child molester father and pedo husband. People on reddit found out about this and tried to talk about it, only to get banned. The rest of the site was rather upset about this and staged their own form of protest.

I dont think those critical comments asking that the site vet their admins better are out of place. Nor are the ones asking why they said they put measures in place to protect her identity even weeks ago, implying they knew thered be some controversy

I actually like it when the site rakes spez over the coals like this. Dude is a total taint-licker who deserves way more hate than he normally gets, and his "tee-hee, what can ya do " approach to harmful content/staff is a key reason why Reddit has become so damaging to society.

That having been said, I agree that some Redditors can come off as comically pompous during situations like this, and the ones continuing to buy LE EPIC REDDIT AWARDS to gild the critical comments are missing the point entirely. That's like deciding to protest employee treatment at Walmart by buying your protest sign supplies from their craft department.
