Have you gotten a vaccine while not eligible?

Well? Seeing some people in my life who have no business getting the vaccine currently because they are not eligible in our state.

Could be. I've tried to get on some lists though and either the Pharmacies don't have them, or they are only allowing eligible people on the lists.

Yeah it's probably mostly this. Here anyone could sign up for waitlists as long as you'd be available to show up within like a half hour of a call if others cancelled/didn't show up.

Or some organizations have ended up with excess doses and made them available to anyone. The Portland Trailblazers just got most of their players vaccinated because a tribal council had extras.

this has been my experience. I don't know how people keep getting them when they're not eligible

I should have included traveling to a state you don't reside in as an answer

My family who is not eligible did. A few pop up vaccination clinics only get like 50% filled, so they vaccinate anyone who comes through the door. If youre in the US, then theres a strong chance those exist in your area too.

Starting tomorrow everyone in my state will be eligible, but to answer the question, I have not gotten mine yet.

Really weird- I got called today around noon today and ended up going and getting the vaccine !! Was super surprised to get the call. It was a local pharmacy rather than a chain

I know two people who were in the right place at the right time basically, the place had extra doses that they didnt want to go to waste so they got the vaccine

It was kind of a gray area for me. Im a school psychologist, which most would probably not consider a healthcare worker, but I learned that a bunch of school psychs and other special education staff were able to get their vaccines, so between that and the number of healthcare staff who have turned their nose up at a vaccine, I decided, Fuck it, Ill give it a try.

I was really surprised by how few questions they asked. I showed up with my badge, some pay stubs, and a letter from an administrator, ready to plead my case, but when I got to the clinic, they literally just glanced at my badge, confirmed that it matched the name I made my appointment with, and said I was good to go >_>

And the silly thing about all this is that very shortly after I made my appointment for the first dose, it was announced that the educator tier would be opening up 2 or 3 days after my appointment.

Yep, just got my first shot of Moderna today even though Im in probably the last demo that will be cleared to get it (young and healthy with no pre-existing conditions and dont work in healthcare or government).

I was able to get it by calling around to the pharmacies in the more rural towns in my state and asking to be put on a waitlist to receive a call from them to set up an appointment. Their waste protocol indicates that they will use up leftover does on willing participants even if youre not currently cleared to get it since theyd have to throw their leftover doses away anyway at the end of the day. Plus, when you get your first dose they automatically sign you up for an appointment to get your 2nd.

Turns out that in some of these rural towns the supply of the vaccine significantly exceeds the demand. Definitely worth it even though I had to drive an hour outside of my city to get it.

Yeah.

I got it Monday. I wasn't eligible but just went to one of the places shortly before they closed and asked if they any extras that night to give and they said yes. Pfizer shot. Arm was hurting a little until this morning but no other side effects.

I have heard you can sign up at a CVS and just put that you are a teacher and they don't ask any questions or anything.

This is pretty much exactly what happened to me today except my dose was within the city and I didn't have to go to a rural area

I believe there have been instances that people have gotten them "because they know someone" or more accurately, they know someone who works in a hospital or something.
