It's a very common trope that, if someone from the present day is offered the chance to travel through time, they'll at least bring up the possibility of killing Hitler.

But is there an earlier historical figure that someone who lived before Hitler became infamous would think about killing in the same way?

Honestly this question will likely depend on what country they are from since the world wasnt as globally connected back then

Like maybe Napoleon for a lot of Europe, America will probably be Lincoln from the South and Calhoun from the North

depending on your affiliations Lenin is one of the bigger ones I'd imagine

oh wait I guess you're talking pre-20th century although Lenin is technically early 1900s and predates Hitler so theoretically he fits the bill

pre-20th century maybe...Oliver Cromwell? Or someone like Napoleon, I suppose. Again, depending on your affiliations.
