What age would you consider someone to be after being cryogenically frozen?

Having an argument about Fry's age.

Captain America taught me the right answer to this and it isn't biological.

There is a save that elder topic on CE and I nominated Fry and people argued he shouldn't be allowed because he doesn't fit the criteria. The criteria is they have to be over 50.

Technically you're correct (the best kind of correct) but you're also going against the spirit of such a contest so

I didn't argue the host of the topic because it wasn't that big of a deal to me. I threw him in because we were 99 nominations. I changed my nomination for him to be Old Man Fry from the final episode.

In some cryo-stories they have two ages listed for everything, biological and chronological.

The Futurama wiki does that for Fry.

Biological certainly makes the most intuitive sense, however that implies a certain continuity of life. If you have a conversation with someone and they mention they are 50 years old, you naturally form some opinions based on knowledge of the average 50 year old person. If they say they are 50 but have actually spent 500 years of that time frozen, suddenly any cultural basis you might have to base any opinion of them is going to be completely shot.

But then chronological has its share of flaws too, as society is not structured to consider that kind of a gap in stasis. Could a 5 year old emerge after 100 years of being frozen and get senior discounts?

It is an issue that a future society will figure out if it becomes an important enough issue to do so. What might make some sense is to introduce a third age, denoting time lived since being unfrozen. If a prospective future conversationalist hears someone who looks 50 say they are 5 years post-cryo, then you could assume they've had some time to adjust to a new society and whatnot and can adjust accordingly.

But none of this will matter because our robot overlords will be eternal, and weaknesses of the flesh will be discarded as we absorb ourselves into becoming part of the great machine.

no, the answer depends on the context. in that specific context, he shouldn't be allowed, and in others you would use the chronological age

By that standard, it's okay to bang a 12 year old girl who's been frozen for 1000 years (now a 1012 year old girl, according to you), right?
