Like anything it's alright to have in moderation. But yeah, if people seriously think those items are "healthy" then they should promptly rethink their choices.

I can't agree on peanut butter. Its high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats which are absolutely essential for cardiovascular health and maintaining blood pressure.

You would also find that most food is low in protein unless its meat. At 7g of protein per serving, its really not bad. About the same as 1 whole egg.

But people DEFINITELY need to weigh their peanut butter when they use it, because the tablespoon will never ever give you an accurate measurement of what you're actually getting.

They do have a good fats. Your body needs healthy fats

read a book

Your body needs fat in general, and it's super easy to overindulge on high fat foods like coconut, avocado, and nuts. Might as well be eating mayo out of the jar with a spoon in moderation.

And what book have you personally read on the matter? You probably get your info from shitty infographics that don't even cite research.

Peanut butter is fine. It even contains good fats you need. Obviously calorie intake matters but I could say the same thing about someone eating 5000 calories worth of Broccoli. Its healthy but that much is bad for you.

Its easy to overindulge on pretty much any food item. Vegetables are a rare exception because they have so little in calorie content and are generally packed with so much fiber you would just start to feel full very fast.

Pork is very healthy (and honestly probably better than chicken when done right) because you get an equal amount of protein AND healthy fats.

A regular 3.5oz porkchop generally hits for 24g protein, 4.5g Saturated fat, 5g Monounsaturated Fat, 2g Polyunsaturated Fat, and also contains a good amount of potassium and vitamin B. 230 calories

An equal portion of chicken contains about 30g of protein, less than 1g of all fats, a bit less potassium, and more vitamin B. It is also only about 165 calories.

Also contrary to popular belief, even saturated fats are important to a balanced diet.

But the ultimate takeaway from this topic is that especially if you want to lose weight, you need to weigh your fucking food and count the calories otherwise you'll never get anywhere

I've been experimenting with various chia seed pudding flavor combinations for a couple of weeks now to use as a cheap, easy to vary and meal prep "breakfast" meal (I don't actually eat it early in the morning when I wake up but whatever, it's the first meal of the day). Peanut butter is by far the hardest ingredient to include and stay within the main goal of under 500 calories. Seeds, nut milk and two tablespoons of PB and you're already at about 460.

Just saying granola bars is so incredibly vague. Do you mean like some genetic double chocolate chunk granola or like Quaker Oats low sugar 100 cal bars? Theres wide variety in everything. Same with cereal. I eat Kellogg all Bran wheat cereal every morning, 120 calories 9g sugar 12g of fiber 5G protein 95mg sodium . It might not be as healthy as oatmeal but I feel like its one of the healthiest things I can find for morning breakfast. you cant compare that or some sugar free oat cereal to captain crunch

The problem isn't really of something if healthy or not, but big problem is that a lot of people are eating and drinking way too much. Diet soda is probably less unhealthy than regular but you shouldn't drink it as your only beverage either way. One glass a day is probably enough, the rest should be tea, water or maybe a cup of coffee.

I agree with the initial post. Sugar is the main issue and cereal and granola are literally candy. Those healthy cereals are just as sugary as Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Beef jerky is another one. Loaded with sugar. A granola bar and a piece of jerky doesnt sound too bad to some people, but check the sugar content. Everyone still believes carbs are the boogeyman to watch out for. If you dont put fuel into your body, it wont run. Sugar is completely unnecessary and its why so many people are overweight.

My contention with calling just about anything healthy is a lot of people run with the idea and disregard the portion size, which often results in an unhealthy amount.

I don't eat either on a daily basis.

This. People calling peanut butter, avocado, and nuts "unhealthy" just because they have a high calorie content are ridiculous.

this is just complete misinformation in the other direction. There are a lot of cereals that have almost no additional sugar. No these are not almost as sugary as Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Were online. We can look these things up.

5) Nutella- are you serious? It is literally a melted kit kat bar in a jar!

4) fake salads- When you take a salad and overload it with dressing, cheese, fat, carbs, and oil then you were way better off eating a damn big mac from mcdonalds, but but but it's a salad.

3) Sushi- that one piece of tiny meat doesn't compensate for rice, mayo, oil, and **** it is squashed in with.

2) Any cereal food- granola, trail mix, and etc- You can thank the baby boomers for brainwashing people in to getting fat off of sugar calorie bombs disguised as health food.

1) Peanut butter- Typical Peanut butter is a very high dense calorie food and the protein count is not worth the extra calories you are intaking. Peanut butter is that toxic gf or family member that you do not need in your life at all but continue to justify keeping them in your life lol. Stick to Pb2 powder or something make it way better for you.

Bonus- Dried fruit, but the only dried fruit I like is the mango from trader joes :) It is a high calorie dense food loaded with sugar....QUITTT
there's low sugar cereal out there.

peanut butter isn't bad. yeah it's caloric dense, but it can keep you fuller longer vs refined carbs. Everything in moderation

Let's put it this way:

Your body primarily stores fat as palmitic acid triglycerides.

Coconut oil is like 95% palmitic acid.
