Taking apart a laptop is a pain in the ass and I've had to do it countless times during my IT career. Laptop manufacturers want to make them difficult to self repair so you'll pay someone to fix it. That's why Apple solders their stuff to the motherboard.

Depends on the age. 35+ its not that weird. Below it I question why they didnt just look it up on youtube or buy a tablet for when they arent at their desktop and save like 700 bucks.

This cost no money. Buying a tablet... would cost money. And idk where on earth you're getting $700 from. They don't even charge $200 to replace a broken screen.

This repair shop only charges if they have to replace/order new parts. Something got stuck in the fan area causing it to make buzzing noises.

ya I had to tell friends and family that I'm retired from laptop and phone repair. laptops aren't that bad, but fuck phones. that shit sucks.

I'll still do it if you're really in a jam, but I'm done swapping your screens every other week.

Ignoring the absolute silliness of "why choose a laptop over a tablet" (like come on, you know the answer to that) my laptop has been my main PC since living at school. If I buy a tablet, it's only going to get used whenever I don't have access to my computer, which isn't often. The last time I had to go weeks without a computer was two years ago.
