Is this a humorous twist on the old Baldur's Gate console games?

The first two Dark Alliance games were a bit like Diablo. Other series existed with similar gameplay like Champions of Norrath(an Everquest take) and some Marvel games where the name escapes me at the moment.

This though... It looks like some terrible over-the-shoulder knockoff of God of War. Bleh...

Dungeons is Dragons is basically anything you want it to be. It can be ultra serious or it can be nothing but dumb jokes and everything in between.

There were 2 sets of 2 games from marvel.

Xmen Legends 1 and 2

And Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2

Yeah I ran a game that ended with some silliness but this trailer is like, Borderlands style edge and a Black Sabbath song that's just...I don't understand this. The game itself also doesn't look particularly good, but it's hard to tell because the trailer jumps all over the place.

D&D is essentially just a set of rules and the themes change based on the setting.

Greyhawk which is the original Tolkien esque fantasy.

Forgotten Realms which is more high Fantasy, includes spelljammer.

Ravenloft which is the horror / Castlevania type shit.

Dark Sun which is the dark and gritty post apocalyptic setting

Eberron which is the magitech setting.

Mystara (a.k.a. the Known World) is a kind of less serious take on fantasy like konosuba or something.

Planescape which is the tripping balls setting.

Dragonlance which was this shared universe between RPG and fiction books.

And a few other lesser known / niche things.

I had exactly the same thought but I didn't want to commit to it yet because I don't know anything about this game. The gameplay looks like it's leaning towards that but maybe it'll end up being like Dragon's Crown or something. Best to just wait.

It still looks not good.

I agree with both of these. Not getting excited for it yet but I'll keep an eye on it and see how things are looking closer to release.

Okay, yeah that's what people mean by looking bad. I thought the graphics were fine, but that combat looks pretty choppy. Definately needs more time to fine tune.
