So who of my fellow brits have been following this insane news in the wake of the police brutality in response to a vigil for a woman murdered by said police.

Been lots of small steps towards fascism and now we're taking a giant leap to supposedly "level the playing field and take it away from the protestors" or whatever utter fascist bullshit Patel tried to fob us off with.

Thankfully attacking a statue will now get a proper punishment that is far more than rape, as it should be. We have to protect monuments to slave traders.

The new wave of red wall Tories are proper hard for it. Heard a few right wing liberal Tories might oppose but not enough to stop it.

Complete madness

I hope so, but I'm doubting it'll be enough. Labour are voting against it I think I read, rather than refusing to vote now, but not sure that'll make any actual difference.

Far too many authoritarian who want things "done proper" and not disturbing the status quo.

Yeah Labour are voting against, but it needs at least 40+ Tory rebels to vote against to bring it down, which probably won't happen.

Im completely ignorant on UK politics. Is this just a desperate move for right wing people to get power and give police the power to stomp out any opposition similar to how the right are acting here in the states?

Only if they're annoying.
I'm sure Bojo won't be the type to abuse this.
all we have to do is just not be annoying when protesting

How better to enforce your will than making acting against it illegal?

They represent the interests of those who voted for them. Don't forget these are the people who voted for Brexit because they didn't like having a bunch of Eastern Europeans around.

This is also furthers my belief that the UK is on the verge of breaking up.

Scotland etc definitely might want to but the current government has repeatedly refused to entertain the idea so just not sure it'll happen unless the government changes.

This shit is legitimately worrying. It really feels like authoritarianism is grasping hold the world over.
For real. The law has already passed the 2nd reading and on track to becoming law.

We had a fucking degenerate excuse for a man complaining he could hear protests in parliament as a reason to support it. Like fuck me, that's the kind of people we are dealing with. They are just openly saying they don't want to be bothered and want to stop anyone causing annoyance.
