More calls from the same people, but different numbers to block. My dad called the police about this, and there's nothing they can do. God fucking damn it!

It's not helping in this case; they're calling me anyway.

-Don't answer them
-Do the sources have similar numbers? Sometimes they use the first six numbers of your phone because people are more likely to answer that.

My recommendation is to use a phone number whose area code doesn't match your area. Spam callers usually call from numbers with your phone's area code. Then, you can block all calls from that area code unless they're contacts. Not sure how you would do it on an iphone but I use an app called Tasker to set up those rules on my android phone.

do you have android

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mistergroup.shouldianswer&hl=en_US&gl=US

its the best ive found. i have it set up to just give the caller a busy signal so they can't even leave a robo-call voicemail.

Yes, they do use similar numbers. We don't really want to change the number though.

Waste their time. I do it always since I'm in lockdown and have nothing better to do.

It's hilarious when they flip their switch.

The national DNC list only stops legitimate telemarketers of which very little legitimate business is conducted over cold calls.

The spam calls you're (the general you) getting are scammers based predominantly in Russia, India, and China, using robodialers with VoIP, spoofing phone numbers they don't own (so that if you try to call them back you get connected to a real person that has no fucking idea what you're talking about), and aren't actually trying to sell you anything but rather just fraud you out of money (car warranty, irs, gift cards etc) or hijack your computer (Microsoft tech support, etc). They are already breaking the law so they don't really give any fucks about the national DNC list.

It's a good idea to have your phone number on it anyway though:

https://www.donotcall.gov/

Not sure what the Canadian website is.
