Worship in something will always exist regardless, but I would say the Abrahamic religions in particular are currently a net negative on the modern day world. Its not like itd stop all conflict or anything, but a lot of stupid traditions and beliefs could definitely go away at least.

Like everything else, priorities just need to be changed. Many people use it in a way that's only positive. The earth would be better without humans. But we shouldn't just all die, we should just do better.

In the past I might have said yes, but it would just be replaced by something equally as stupid and divisive. Like console wars or something

lmao

Imagine an Elder Scroll game where each province is sperated by console, handheld, pc, and arcade gamers warring over the perfect game.

this.

religion was used as an excuse.
without religion they would use the law or philosophy or history or something like that to pit people against each other anyway.

Religion is a man-made corralling of spirituality. As long as there are humans, there will definitely be some form of religion. To assume that there wouldn't be is literally you as one person trying to be the voice for all of humanity.

Religion should be more secular, but seeing how their replacements (and yes they exist) are becoming far worse, established religions should not go away entirely.

well, even if you ignore the racism, sexism, and homophobia that go hand-in0hand with most major religions, people's lives would be better if they stopped constantly worrying that some invisible being will roast them in hell for all eternity if they screw up

I think there is some good to be found in many belief systems.

The problem is when people use their religion as an excuse for bigotry and intolerance, or when they use religion as a substitute for critical thinking.

Well that's up for debate. Are religious people learning from their religion, or creating religion based on their beliefs?

Yes, I think the world would be a better place, or at least there would be a net positive gain. Science wouldn't be as hindered or held back, for one.

I see what people are saying that something else would simply take religion's place, but I don't really agree with that argument. Prejudices, hatred, console wars, or whatever you want to put in, still exists now. At least religion would be removed from the equation.

People bastardize their religion because of existing cultural prejudices, not the other way around.

I think religion has played it's role in society in creating a "stable" environment for us to live in.

As much as I would want humanity to focus on humanity and our spirituality now, no, people would just find something else to complain about to justify their shitty behavior.

We wouldn't be better we would just be playing the same game with a new skin.
