As a gay man, I just was not interested in marriage. It seemed more like they wanted to do it for the novelty or idealism rather than a feeling of necessity. I supported my colleagues in marching for marriage equality for our demographic, but was never planning on ever getting married myself. It just did not feel necessary. I always had a great time with my guys regardless. My current partner understands that and feels the same way. We don't operate like straight people. We don't need a ring. Some of my gal pals have been salty over that for a while. Both jealous of the fact I got multiple proposals from guys I was into and losing a chance to crew my gay wedding.
