I really enjoyed The Binding of Isaac and haven't found anything with the same level of longetivity and addictiveness. Rogue Legacy was okay.

Enter the Gungeon
Dead Cells
Undermine
Hades
Slay the Spire is card based but still amazing

Gungeon is likely the closest to Issac though

Monster Train is now on Gamepass also FYI

I just started playing it yesterday, seems similar to Slay the Spire for sure.

Yeah, if you like Isaac I am 100% confident you will like Gungeon. They're pretty similar, but Gungeon has enough differences to have its own identity. Gungeon also has more going on with NPCs

Roguelites typically have a lot of carryover between runs allowing you to get progressively stronger on each reset. Rogue Legacy and Hades are good examples.

Roguelikes... have several sprawling definitions.

Hades is a roguelite while Dead Cells, Gungeon, Isaac and Necrodancer are roguelikes
No one really cares anymore idt lol. TC said roguelite then talked about Isaac. Doesn't really matter

Gungeon and Hades are my other top picks for the genre

Streets of Rogue is a really fun one but I didn't stick with it for as long as the above two.

Hades is a masterpiece in the genre. The way it tells the story to fit to the roguelite genre is just so perfect.

Other ones I've enjoyed quite a bit

Undermine - Zelda like dungeon which has some really smooth gameplay. The pixel graphics are really nice too

Going Under - 3D beat em up with an amazing style. The runs are broken up into smaller sections so you don't have to beat entire game in a single run. Difficulty spike mid game is pretty harsh though.

Neon Chrome - very over the top cyberpunkish twin stick shooter roguelite. There's a good system of progression and variety of choices. This is a blast

20XX - basically Mega Man X roguelite in design. The level design does sort of suffer due to the randomness of levels.

Descenders - yep, this is a downhill biking roguelite that literally follows the roguelite rules. Procedural generated levels, branching choices, perma death after all lives used, etc... I deem it the roguebike genre

I've got my eye on this one - it looks really fun and I love the whole concept of the dungeons being failed tech startups

Thanks dudes. I will try out Gungeon since I already got it for free and will eventually buy Hades.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Nobody really cares but you are incorrect, those are all typically considered roguelites. If it's not a turn-based RPG it's probably not a roguelike. The games the second poster listed are actual roguelikes.

Enter the Gungeon is my favorite in the genre, and I love that all but one character has a unique boss or fight in their specific ending. Hades is very good, and it's probably the most story focused roguelike I'll ever play. Dead Cells and Slay the Spire are fun, but I haven't played either very much(I did beat them at least twice each though). One Step from Eden I enjoy a ton, but the game is very hit or miss even if you liked Mega Man Battle Network(personally I prefer Eden to every BN game I played).

Gungeon also has a ton to unlock if you speifically want a roguelike to last long.

You don't understand what a roguelike is, like at all. If you lose all your progress, it's a roguelike.
You are mistaken.
