Ignoring whether you like the idea of singing in your movies.
They are opportunities to fit a lot into a short period of time. You can use a song to do all this really quickly: -Set the emotional mood, and also display the setting. -Express how a character is feeling (or multiple characters) -Show a lot of things happening quickly, possibly even in a montage like with I'll make a man out of you. You can skip around a lot in a song I think Raya and the Last Dragon has some problems where the adventure feels rushed that could have been alleviated with some elegant musical segments. --- Talking about video games? it's ok to just disagree with each other on the internet.
