Gaming is more profitable than it has ever been so if they want to justify an increase, the way to do that is to do away with their bullshit dlc cash grab schemes.

I already refuse to pay $80 CAD for video games and haven't bought a new game at launch in years because of it. Increasing it to $90 or $100 will probably make me give up on modern gaming entirely as even waiting for a sale wouldn't be worth it at that point because the sale price would still be $60+ for the first couple years.

Honestly idk how games aren't like $300. NES games were $60+ for a <1mb file made by 6 dudes. Now games have budgets in excess of blockbuster films, a team of dozens of people and are several gigs.

Considering you're still gonna be paying for all the extra shit they add to games down to line, yeah, I think it's a big deal. $60 is fine, because most games already cost well over 100 bucks to access everything they have to offer.

Don't buy them and they won't keep the price at $70. This may mean no longer supporting Nintendo either if they insist on being special snowflakes with their $80 price tag or something.

I guess no one remembers when games were $50 only, you know back before the Xbox 360. The 360/PS3 gen is when the price moved from $50 to $60 and there was a big deal made about it back then as well just not as much since DLC was not as fucked up as it is today.

adults and parents need to stop buying so much fuckin DLC. i know it sucks especially when the little ones ask about DLC but gotta be balanced so that the devs and their corporate overlords don't think ppl are okay with it

after all, it's adults and parents who are contributing the most to the problem by rewarding those companies with $$$ and not complaining enough on corporate boards like what happened with EA and Battlefront 2 over on Reddit.

This being said we do also need some regulations on loot boxes and other predatory addiction-creating mechanisms targeted at kids

For games that deserve it, yeah. Not paying $70 for some indie game that looks like it came out during the SNES era.

Indie games are generally pretty cheap. Stuff like Hyper Light Drifter and Sonic Mania definitely could not be done on a SNES or Genesis.

I buy like 1 game a year at full price since here in Canada they're 80$ instead of 60$ (and add sales tax it reaches 90$)

So games going up to 70$ are going to make it reach 100$ here probably, and I don't know if I can justify spending 100+ on a single game.

Thats the entire point. If they want to justify a price increase on the front end, they better be ready to deliver a full package on the back end. I already wait for sales anyway so I dont really care either way, but I wouldnt be surprised to see more and more people start to wait for sales too. A price increase when nothing else changes isnt likely to be met with enthusiasm or even indifference by most people, Id wager.

Yeah EA/DICE stripped out mtx from the game for a few months, don't know in what form they returned later.

I really think that was 100% Disney not wanting to be associated with that particular controversy. EA only changed that game because Disney told them to take it all out. This is just IMO though. It was a pretty good game overall though.
