I mean, of course it hasn't, but do you think the fact that "fan theories" ran so absurdly rampant and then every single one of them was slapped down one by one on the show will change the course of these kinds of conversations? Will smooth brained reddit detectives and clickbait writers think twice before posting whatever inane shit pops into their head? Putting too much effort into things and using moon logic to connect two disparate pieces of a non-puzzle got these people nowhere and didn't even generate interesting discussions. This seems like a watershed moment that people should be talking about more.

Theories will never die

This but hopefully it teaches some people it's fun to theorize but don't hate the end product if it doesn't go the way you want.

I've said since TLJ that people need to fucking chill with theorycrafting.

It'll never end well

I'm really disappointed that Pietro wasn't Keyser Soze.

I think youre greatly overestimating how much of a problem this is.

And fact of the matter is, during the Infinity Saga we all had a general idea of where Marvel was going. There was speculation to be had on the specifics, but getting to what Endgame was was always understood as the finish line.

Where the MCU is now though, we dont really know enough yet to say what the next Endgame will be with that same kind of certainty, only what movies and shows are coming up next. So when WandaVision finally airs, the first MCU content since FFH, over a year ago now, a lot of people are paying attention because its effectively in the same place Ironman 2008 was in.

Literally anything could happen until the overarching plot becomes clear, and even then.

Obviously, but what a lot of people don't understand is that the MCU is a business and a lot of their theories don't make sense for the timeline and scale of the overall product. Wandavision doesn't even need to feed into the overarching plot at all. Theorizing is fun but a lot of it was literal shit thrown against the wall. Just look at all the articles about how Wandavision was going to be the launching off point for the X-Men/Fantastic Four/Multiverse/Spider-Man/Dr. Strange/Eternals/Ghost Rider/every demon who has ever made an appearance in comics. Or how Pietro was actually literally every character in the universe. There's no evidence for it and it doesn't make sense. It's just people screaming into the void so they can say they called it whenever one of their theories happens to happen.

Well this topic exists, so clearly not.

If Pietro was just some other actor or even ATJ again, those theories about who he actually was wouldnt exist. Casting Evan Peters as a meta gag was also one of those theories, though one people didnt like to focus because it is factually disappointing when the Mutants are highly anticipated and the actor for one of Fox's best takes on a mutant character turned out to just be there for a boner joke.

And again, as said, anything could have happened and still, in fact, can.

Plus, you also dont seem to understand that speculation on "what happens next" has always been a thing and always will be with episodic content. It happens just as much with books and video games as it does with movies and tv.

The problem youre getting at has nothing to do with that and everything to do with highly niche internet subcultures naturally being toxic. This is why I say youre overestimating the problem, because youre pointing at another example of rabid monkeys and expecting everyone to be like "omg rabid monkeys" when weve been dealing with them since the 90s.
