70% of Americans support his action, including 44% of Republicans. In an age of party dichotomy like not seen in a century, those are very good numbers.

Trump is such an idiot, he didn't have to go all crazy with lockdown talks but encouraging mask use wouldn't have harmed anyone and would have greatly aided the recovery of the economy. _

Hell if he was half the business man that he thinks he is, he should have sold MAGA licensed masks to make a profit and help towards the economy

I'm pretty damn left and even I was impressed at first with his turnaround; it only took a couple of weeks to completely screw it up, but he would have had the election in the bag. If he had gotten us through Covid I'd have forgiven him a lot.

Yeah Trump and McConnell were complete fucking idiots lmao. If they were generous and timely with direct cash aid to households and smart about the pandemic right away, instant election win and probably even 2024 for whoever the next R is. Thankfully their machine is running out of juice.

he could have crossed out the title of the pandemic plan, written "Trump's Master Plan for All Sick Causing Things" in sharpie, literally thrown it at an intern, and golfed the rest of the year while smart people handled it to coast to an easy reelection. instead, he kept stabbing his own foot because ????

But really. We just needed an even hand and a cool temper. I'm not sure anymore if a hard lock down would ever have been possible, but if possible it would have been a lot more effective. Give everyone 2000$ and lock it down hard for a month.

Maybe it's just me not knowing anything, since I generally don't, but everything about this whole distribution thing has felt like a dang disaster. Even having no idea what to expect, I would never have guessed it would have taken anywhere the three months the vaccine has been available to distribute to 100% of the population, never even mind getting 20% half-vaccinated.

I mean, FFS, the whole country goes to the poll on one dang day. Worst case, I was thinking on the order of like one month.

So really, this whole concept of one president doing better than another just feels like, you both got an F so who cares.

I don't think Trump screwed up initial deployment, but his followthrough was awful. We now know there wasn't a real plan going forward, and that we missed the chance to buy more doses from Pfizer when we could have. At the time, we didn't know how effective it was going to be but it would have been a safe buy. He was too focused on the election.

There's also the fact that not everyone wants to get it, and it has to be kept under careful conditions, so we didn't have the infrastructure for it. I won't blame Trump on the infrastructure part because we may not have known what it required or knowing may not have helped.

Yeah....

You're very wrong on what your expectations are. For a number of reasons.
