It should be a state thing, if not county or municipality thing, anyway.
$15 somewhere in the West Virginia Appalachians is a hell of a lot different from $15 in San Fransisco.

Raising the minimum wage is popular with the American public, even as dramatic a raise as to $15 an hour (it is currently $7.25 an hour). This weeks Morning Consult/Politico poll found that registered voters support it 60 percent to 32 percent. An Ipsos/Reuters survey from last month found roughly the same thing: 59 percent of adults in support and 34 percent in opposition. Monmouth University this week did find less support for it, but even in that survey, 53 percent of adults still supported a $15 minimum wage, while 45 percent were against it.

the way the system is, you need popularity across the 50 states, not just in densely populated areas. and yes, the system could definitely be changed, and perhaps should be. but again, it's not popular enough nationally to work with what we have now. compare this to obamacare, which would destroy the GOP if they tried to remove it

yes I know how the senator works but its fucking outrageous that we have a senate where something that is popular with 60% of Americans only gets 40% support

why is this important? if her policy choices are unpopular, then she'll be voted out for someone who supports their views better, and they'll get the vote next time. if she gets reelected, then this isn't a big enough problem for them.

I have mixed feelings on it. I think the federal minimum wage should be increased, but it's ridiculous that it needs to be grouped into a covid relief bill. It should be separate, and it should be debated as such.

The minimum wage in my state is already nearly $15 anyway. Red states voting against it is yet another classic example of people going against their own self interests.

Because of how the Senate works, she's not up for re-election until 2024. Decisions made in early 2021 are thus pretty well insulated against the democratic pressures you're putting your faith into here.

And also you should know better than to assume elections are strictly reflections of policy.

60% of Floridians voted for it. It's popular enough across aisles. The hyper locality argument gets thrown out as soon as you realize Republican brass also pass bills banning hyper locality

It's a popular idea, especially when you put down a time table. The problem gets muddied by representatives and lobbyists, not by lack of support
