It's weird because it's literally the same argument the PC crowd makes about slaughterhouses (and it's also true then).

I think that most of the "PC crowd" wants meat production to be a more ethical process rather than outright banning meat production. Much like they mostly are calling for actually functional methods for decreasing abortions (sex ed, public funded iuds, etc.) rather than banning abortions.

Also this. The insane pro lifers around here set up big displays and harass people walking by so I've seen it plenty.

They even rented a billboard showing a giant fetus from an abortion... the city stepped in and had it taken down though.

I think some people do minimize what abortion is and that annoys me because I think it's a bit dishonest. Regardless, I'm still pro-choice but I'm all for policies and work that makes it easier for people to not get in the situation of having an unplanned pregnancy. And if they do, I'm for policies that makes it easier for people to make the decision to keep the child such as financial and social support, if that's what they ultimately want to do.
Very few, to no, people minimise it. We just think it's something people should be able to decide for themselves if they get an unwanted pregnancy. Obviously better sex ed, access to free contraception and easy access the morning after pill are preferable but accidents happen, or many other examples and we should provide means to people, regardless of the why.

How do people minimize it? What is bad about abortion?

Not saying it's wide spread or a large amount of the discourse, but comments about it being removing/ending "just a clump of cells".

Again, I'm not saying it's some huge discourse but I see it happen at times. But we might also have different ideas of what "minimizing" means in this case. Or we might have different opinions on what a fetus is to us

Possibly a bit of both. I don't think anyone pretends it's not a traumatic experience for most people and a very grim reality (I'm sure you can find a few people who are utterly different, but you can always find one bad example so it's whatever really) but many simply don't see it as "a life" yet, or if they do, that it doesn't override the right of the pregnant individual.

I guess an example of people saying it's just a simple procedure or that abortion awesome or good. It's necessary medical work in order to give a level of bodily autonomy to those who need it... But it can also be pretty morbid and emotionally difficult like you said. But it doesn't "rock" and it's not "awesome"

Lol, but maybe I'm just being unnecessarily sensitive to that kind of wording and phrasing

Do many actually say it "rocks" and is "awesome" though? Certainly many people say it's a good thing, and it 100% is. Its existence is a basic human right and imo, its legality is part of being a modern country. It can be a good thing, while being traumatic and grim though.

I imagine those that say it rocks/is awesome simply mean its existence though and are just using slang, which perhaps isn't the best around such a subject admittedly.

Na it won't, I'm just aware many disagreements are based on just simple wording misunderstanding and trying to keep that in mind.

I guess. I know someone a few posts above did say it rocks. But again, I'm not trying to say this is a large part of the discourse. Or that it always happens, but when it does, I think it can be good to criticize it or ask clarification of what people mean.

I don't know. There's this insane Catholic (redundant, I know) old couple that is primarily motivated by their anti-abortion-ness. They have a two-sided sign in front of their house that they change each day to assorted Republican talking points each morning. Often it features grisly images of what purport to be abortions. I see it almost every day and I'm no less pro-choice.

Today, I think one side said "ROE V WADE - A CASE MADE IN HELL" or something along those lines. I'm from Pennsylvania and our governor or Tom Wolf. Sometimes their sign is a picture of a wolf with a fetus hanging out of its mouth, captioned something about Tom "The Wolf" Wolf. I call it the abortion house.

Does that actually help the pro-choice argument though?

I mean yes, more people probably would stop eating meat if they were made to watch slaughter videos. Better yet, imagine how many people would nope out of hunting and cleaning a kill, if that was the legal requirement for eating meat.
