I think Moe is still dating Laney Fontaine, but she hasn't been on it or referenced in awhile.

I fucking hate what they did with Moe from like season 10 onwards.

Perfect example is when he's dating the dwarf girl. They spend like 20 minutes of the episode building up Moe is actually a pretty decent guy, and how him and that girl hit it off really nicely and become a cute unlikely couple, just to tire screech to a halt in the last 2 minutes and randomly wreck it for no reason.

Like seriously, the way they deliver the ending, and he randomly starts making jokes about little people, after defending her from stuff like that the whole time was the hardest of hard lefts. It's almost like whoever wrote that ep wanted to finally give Moe a happy ending, and see executive was like NOW HANG ON A MINUTE at the last fucking second lol.

It's still astounding to me that they gave one of the biggest losers in Springfield a hot Japanese wife. I feel that that qualifies as pandering.

I actually love this episode. Should've been a follow up to this episode.

Remember that episode where Moe was gonna jump off a bridge and kill himself but Maggie fell into his arms and he basically imprinted on her?

I loved it up until the last second where they realized they need to go back to status quo and ruin it.

Why did they give Comic Book Guy a wife but not Moe?
As much of an annoying caricature that Comic Book Guy is he's still got enough redeemable qualities to net a partner (likely with related interests). Many awkward geeky people can still land relationships if they make themselves at least moderately bearable to be around. And there's plenty of comic-related tropes to rationalize how he could manage to comprehend behaving well enough to date.

Moe is a grumpy old asshole with a lot of unattractive vices and glaring social dysfunctions. He also owns and works in a bar daily where he's surrounded by patrons with similar problems. He's pitiable, but not really relationship material even as a bottom-feeder. Moe has also shown that, in rare moments where life throws him some good fortune, it quickly goes to his ego and he's not above burning friends in his backstabbing arrogance. This toxicity would of course bleed over into his attempts at finding a life partner which leaves him predictably single. The guy is not just ugly in face, but personality and casual immorality too. That's basically the clich he represents as a character: a stereotypical shady business operator who's cutthroat and quick to rage along with affiliations to the local underworld. It's not uncommon for someone like that to be butt ugly and remain partner-less. People can sense someone like that is best kept at a distance.

Except Maggie, but look who raised her...

Yeah, Moe usually turns on people when he gets close to them or when he doesn't "need" them any more.

As soon as he's not in a position where he's feeling sorry for himself, he's actually a bit of a jerk.
