I barely have any play time on the console because I have so few games comparatively for it. Everything that comes to the console comes at a premium and anything with NINTENDO on it never goes down in price. I really want to use it more but with a vastly smaller library than PC/Consoles outside of goofy indie games I can't afford to shell out to get the good stuff on this. Anyone else have this problem?

Another annoying bit with Nintendo is their refusal to release deluxe editions with all dlc. Especially annoying for titles such SSBU has well over a $100 worth of it by now.

Seriously how much money do they think their target audience has?

Well, they did with Pokemon. But it was the same price as the game and DLC separately.

A lot of my recent switch titles are games that were on sale. And while the same price and access is also available on steam, my current lifestyle setup makes the Switch more conducive for gaming. The switch is on the big screen downstairs with a couch and a wireless controller. Steam is upstairs on a smaller TV with either mouse+keyboard or a wired controller. Recent games for me include Hades, Banner of the Maid, Grindstone, and Octopath Traveler.

Yes, if you want BotW, Mario, Smash Bros, etc -- they'll pretty much always be full price. Deal with it.

I've been hoping Kirby would hit $30 for years. But it never did, and it might end up being weirdly expensive now like the first HW on Switch.

no, I generally buy most games new on release
For example Horizon Zero Dawn nowadays has had plenty of price cuts even in the complete version that comes with the DLC
BotW is still $60 and no complete edition. Both came out the same damn week.

Wouldn't what you're describing be lack of deep discounts, rather than insane price points? Games on other platforms are also $60 at launch.

But no, it doesn't ruin my experience. I buy a lot of games day 1, so it's no biggie. I currently have 11 games on the Switch. Compared to my PS4 and PC libraries, that's chump change.

The point of price cuts is to squeeze more sales out of a game that isn't selling as well anymore. So I do find it hard to blame Nintendo when they have many games where this just isn't necessary. The other publishers tend to push pre-orders and day one sales and as a result their games are very front-loaded in sales and fall off a cliff not long after launch.

Ironically this means I'm more likely to get Nintendo games early myself knowing that I'm not gonna be getting some bargain in a few months and it's not gonna be a game that will be significantly improved by patches later.

Here's how to do it:
3rd-party: wait a few months.
Nintendo: buy it at Walmart at launch for $10 less, or wait out a buy-two-get-one deal at Target.

yea i've barely played mine the last couple years. i tried mario 64 all stars but played a few days and just didn't feel right or probably just because i haven't played the original in like 20+ years and even the ds version has been like 15 years but yea just didn't really have fun playing. i played like a month when animal crossing came out. before that was mostly smash bros and mario kart/party. i do have mario odyssey i still need to play.

it has way better support than nintendo has had in awhile but it's a lot of indy and ports of old games. it's still mainly 1st party for the must play games and all of those are mostly gonna be $60 no matter what.
