Taco Bell and Del Taco both have decent $1 menu selections. I think overall though, Del Taco is the cheapest major chain now.

There's one next to the place I just started working. I didn't feel like getting in the car, driving to In-N-Out or Fatburger so I walked over and ordered a Double Quarter Pounder and large fries. No drink. It was like $11 dollars.

$11 for McDonalds.

This. Gotta take advantage of dollar menu items. The "dollar menu" doesn't technically exist anymore but they always have some kind of two for $2 or two for $3 deal. I used to be able to get two McDoubles for $3 for the longest time. No reason to order regular menu combos anymore, too expensive.

Taco Bell

It's been a while since I've been there, but I remember getting a $5 box, that had three tacos, a drink and a dessert item. That was really good.

A two item combo with rice at Panda Express nets you around $7, so that's great too.

A combo at Wendy's, Jack-In-The-Box and Carl's Jr. steals $11 from you. I won't ever go back to those places.

If you have the mcd's app, you get 1 dollar large fries, so it would've saved you like 2-3 dollars on fries. For your 8/9 dollar quarter pounder?

When they were forced to hike up minimum wage in certain states. Its a reactionary move to directly punish the people who allowed it to happen. They also put like two employees on the floor at a time (one in the kitchen and one taking orders in the lobby AND the window) to make us wait like ten minutes for a burger and some fries.

Theyre not teetering on the brink of bankruptcy and they dont need the money. You used to be able to get like four things with a five dollar bill, but now youd be spending like $12.

Were not paying these higher wages; if you want raised wages then pay them yourselves.

Even in states that already have a fifteen dolar minimum wage the prices are not that hight. They will be raised sure but not double or anything like that.

If it works in California, why not do it nationwide? Thats the trend they started in high minimum wage states. Dont get me wrong. I want the wages to be raised, but Im just pointing out how corporate America is sidestepping having to actually pay workers by minimizing and automating the workplace.

This doesn't make sense. Companies know what prices they can get away with it. They have scores of people with masters degrees in business analytics figuring out prices. If you can charge the same for a Big Mac in California, that has double the minimum wage and a far higher average wage, in Indiana, then the Big Mac in California is almost certainly underpriced. Prices don't rise everywhere because one state has a wage increase. There is no theory of economics where what you're saying makes any sense.

Trust me, if you see a McDonald's that's understaffed during peak hours, then that's because staff didn't show up, not because the store is cutting corners. They want to move customers quickly.

What they did do, was change all of their employees to part time because California passed a law that all full time employees get paid benefits.

Yeah except the last time I ordered through the app and tried to pick up at the drive-thru they couldnt complete the purchase with the app so I had to pay full price for the fries, which ended up being cold.

You want an ambiguously-passable meal, fairly quickly, and don't want to pay a lot for it. McDonald's downfall began when they abandoned those last two points.
