The text says something about unusual activity on my account (I have a couple accounts but it's been a few days since I've done anything with them). Apparently I have until the end of tomorrow to do something. Also this is my final reminder, even though it's the first I've heard of this.

Would it be for the best if I just delete the text and forget I ever saw it?

You can go their website and request a copy of your report

Yeah I would definitely talk to a random text message about an urgent matter.

It's likely a scam, but you can request 1 free copy of your credit report per year, if you want to double check.

Do your own due diligence and figure it out. Do NOTHING with that text, do not click any links, do not respond, nothing. Go to their website and either check your report or see if there are any messages. I'm sure you can also speak to someone directly from Equifax. But do NOT answer / click on anything in that text. It is 99.99% fake and phishing shit

Yeah I'm 99% sure it's not legit. It's just I'm fairly new to the whole online account thing, so I don't know how many agencies have interest in my credit and what they can do.

Unless you've explicitly given equifax your email address for some reason, and specifically signed up for credit monitoring, assume it's a scam.
Even if you have explicitly given equifax your email address for some reason, suspect it's a scam.

If the link is some garbage random url, instead of something specifically starting with "https://www.equifax.com/", it's probably a scam. Don't click that link, or you'll get dogpiled with thirty more bullshit texts by the end of the week.
