I guess it pays to have kids when youre older. I know lots of people who have had kids and need to get rid of things.

Im having a girl and my cousin and his wife have 2 girl toddlers and are done having kids. They gave us a crap ton of girl clothes, bibs, their crib that converts to a toddler bed, kid books, etc. I hardly needed to buy any clothes at all.

My other friend that Im seeing today has a bunch of bottles, diaper cream, a bassinet and a swing she doesnt need. All new and unused. Were going by there today.

My brother has 2 young girl toddlers too and was going to send me stuff until he found out his wife is pregnant again lol. Theyre waiting to find out the gender but if its a boy he may give me more things.

Not to mention Ive received a crap ton of things off our registry, even with opting not to do any shower (we will have a party with family when its safe). My coworkers did have a virtual shower for me though which was really cool and several coworkers got me things too. Ive got pretty much all the essentials.

I havent really had to buy any baby things yet. And baby shit is expensive. I feel so grateful.

Its nice. Honestly weve got thousands worth of stuff.

Got all the things from my friend today. Turns out the swing is a mamaroo which is some high tech baby swing thing thats worth $200. I also just received the stroller from my aunt today off my registry. My mom got us the car seat. My work also loans you a snoo, which is a 1200 smart bassinet. You get it for 6 months.

When I first looked at baby things I was amazed at how expensive shit cost. Im very thankful for friends and family.

Completely off topic - have your cats become a lot more affectionate? I heard sometimes typically cold aloof ones do around pregnant bellies...

Used cribs are "bad" for various reasons. Avoid those.

One cat has always been clingy to me but Ive noticed hes become extra extra clingy these last few months. Even forces his way to go to the bathroom with me which he never did before.

The other is a daddys boy but he does have his moments when he wants to cuddle my belly

Its been built after 2011 and the same model is still sold in stores. My cousin and his wife took great care of it as well. Its a sturdy one, a bit on the higher end side. So I felt comfortable taking it. They also gave us the mattress but I dont feel comfortable with that so were buying that new.

Pic of crib. Other than a few dings, its still in great shape. They took it apart and my husband reinstalled everything and made sure its sturdy

Lol the baby part is great. But you dont really realize how much crap you need and how expensive everything is until you have one. I had no idea until I put a registry. Childcare in SoCal is ridiculously expensive too. Even looking at part time nannies will be expensive.

I mean, I'd say having the baby is the best part. Lord knows I never get to know that feeling in any capacity. :'(

But sure, free shit's definitely better than a helpless baby who you get to raise and see grow up into who they become. Not judging.

I mean like, how I have a ps4. Possession of. Though, the pregnancy and birthing process would be wonderful and alleviate a lot of issues I have. Like, having it thrown in my face as an assault on my womanhood and femininity. Just tran things.

But rather than derailing further, I'll just go uhhh. Train. *Suplexes it*

Yaaaa I don't think we've spent a dime of our own money on baby stuff so far. Except for doctors appointments I guess. Have you calculated how much you'll be spending on delivery? We'll hit our out of pocket maximum at $7000 ish. So all approved appointments/testing/surgeries will be free for the next year.

i understand, just saying that the actual birthing is just as raising them you might not be able to birth yourself that doesnt mean you have to deprive yourself of raising them

Did you know we were all crotchgoblins once too? I mean I get kids isnt for everyone but I question people who genuinely hate them this way. Must have some real underlying issues.

Ha poorly worded topic title. As someone who is infertile and had to go through several rounds of treatment, nothing can compare to that feeling that we are finally having our baby. Its been nearly 5 years since we started trying. But Im grateful that I even had that chance, let alone that it finally worked. I still have constant anxiety throughout the pregnancy though, just want her to be here and be safe more than anything.

*hugs*

I have really great insurance that covers 90% of the cost of all maternity related things, and my deductible is only $500 which Ive hit already. It should be about $1850 for the hospital, $345 for my doc. I dont know what the anesthesiologist will cost for the epidural but I confirmed its also covered at 90% and the one at the hospital is in my network too. Should be a couple hundred I think.

And thats for a nice fancy looking birthing suite lol

Do you know how long and expensive the adoption process is? Unless I'm married to someone who also wants a kid and we have a good deal of extra funds simply for that, it's basically impossible. And foster care is just... A little too distant feeling for me to be okay with. And then trying to adopt them if it works out still brings up the expenses issue. :( Basically, it's not very likely I'll get the chance. I'll be too old to feel okay trying for that if I'm not married and settled down in the next 5 years. I'm not even old, for that matter. It's just the world I live in, my status as a trans woman, and the complex socioeconomic web I've been forced to maneuver without hope of ever escaping barring a genuine societal collapse and rebuild. *Sigh*
