I quit a job because of a coworker who was an asshole and I disliked him

Sure I could have just "ignored it" but he was the director of my department, and he treated many people poorly, but he always got away with it because no one reported it. And he was well respected in his role, over 30 years of experience. So I knew he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. And I tried dealing with it for several months, and one day I just couldn't take it anymore and I quit

Yep. Well maybe cause of two people. My GM at the time was the biggest bitch I've ever met. A fellow manager was also one of the worst people I've ever met in my life.

No. When I quit jobs, it's either because I think continuing with the company is a detriment to my life and/or I've found a better job.

well at one of my previous positions, i did have a manager who was a complete dick even tho he praised my work.

i did quit and found something else at the time but not because of him strictly. the work itself felt repetitive and monotonous... and there was a good chance id be doing the same shit if i stayed there. lol

I walked out of my last job as it was a complete shitshow. There were only two people in my department; myself and someone who had no relevant skills or knowledge of said department. It got to the point where the department was so poorly ran, I'd be coming in on days off to help out, I'd be working on things at home, and most of my work would consist of undoing mistakes my coworker made.

A supervisor left and there was a shakeup in management. Rather than promoting me to be the supervisor of the department I was working in for years, the new boss chose one of the laziest, manipulative employees from a completely different department to run mine.

Naw I did switch locations because me and a coworker couldn't get along with our manager but I've never quit because of a coworker before.

My current job has a handful of people and management that I dont like working with but I've learned to ignore it.

Yep. Used to work in the restaurant industry.

1st job.. quit because of my boss. We just couldn't get along well. We kept arguing overtime. Last day, I snapped and just decided to leave right after he wanted a "meeting" with him.

2nd job... quit because i've got sexually harrassed by a bi dude... on my moms bday.

3rd job... my entire kitchen staff and myself quit because we were out of food for the last day of the business in New Years Eve (2019). We decided to boycott because our head manager still wanted us to operate the restaurant. Yea... we don't even have all the food to serve over 100 customers. It was crazy. Either deal with angry customers and not serving them food, or not open and still deal with angry customers.

Even heard someone from Indonesia even came all the way here to SoCal just to eat here and celebrate New Years Eve. well.. that's too bad BAHAH

My manager at my first job at a grocery store, who made me clean the dumpsters alone in 90 degree weather, and once went to my house and banged on the door after I called in.

You didn't report them to HR? That's insane.

Yeah a manager told me she had just interviewed and hired a new girl, and that this new girl mentioned me by name. Yeah her name is ___. Last name ___. It was my ex. Quit the day before she started.

They didn't have one, it was an independent mom and pop-type store. He wasn't just the manager, he was the owner.

I didn't quit nor was fired but laid off. But I was going to quit or get fired sooner or later.

Imagine working at a place where one of the supervisors is never satisfied and constantly changes things up to the point no SOP ever works even though they stress on it. Says they don't want to micromanage but do it anyway since it wasn't the way they do it.

Pits coworkers against each other with nepotism being extremely prevalent.

Supervisor insults you knowing damn well you can't respond back in the way you want because it's a clear trap to fire you.

When it's time for evaluations, literally everyone gets both supervisors to give their review while you only get 1 supervisor to review and it's the one where all the problems are the source. The result? A 50 cent raise but moved to part time due to the early stages of the pandemic.

I was so happy to be laid off from that hellhole and it was just in time for the CARES Act to take effect too. I was literally dreading every single day of the week, including the weekends because every hour meant it's getting closer to going back to hell.

I've multiple times considered quitting my job because of the boss being a tinfoil hat nutter but... at the end of the day, he's still paying me in real dollars, and I don't actually have to get involved in the tinfoil crap so...

I quit due to being underpaid and dealing with a boomer boss who micromanaged. Very annoying. New boss who's a boomer is a lot better. Some boomers just don't understand life.

^ I think people do that in purpose to try and get you to quit no joke. I was with that company for 5 years and during my last few months I was told I was a clock watcher if I left on the dot or shortly after. And I'd typically come in 10 mins early. At my new job my boss is totally cool with us leaving 5-10 mins early or if we had to go somewhere (like taking my kids to soccer). If there was something urgent that needed to be done sure I'd stay the extra 10-15mins or more, but when it's not needed why live at work? What a joke. I hope that company goes under.
