It's literally just for browsing the web and sending emails and typing documents

I had an old (5 years?) $90 chromebook but it was slow even for this purpose. Would a newer chromebook work better?

I'm not computer savvy -- is that because more ram will make it run smoother or last longer?

You'd be able to use more programs at once without your s*** freezing up on you.

I'd second a Chromebook and use Google Docs.

Alternate solution, can you just use your phone? You can get Google Docs for your phone along with web browsing and emails.

$200 laptops aren't really future proof. Chromebooks are decent, but still.

You might want to get a cheap iPad, which nowadays work with any bluetooth keyboard and mice, as well as a shitload of keyboard cases

That's what I've been doing but there are mapping programs and graphs that I need to prepare for work that won't work properly on my phone, and it's just annoying in general
