And if someone flees, you send robo dog who can run at 50 mph to spear them into the ground, once again at no risk.

That's what they claim they'd have done, or at least what their supporters claim. And to be fair maybe they would have done that. But it's not so clear cut as you're suggesting. Amazon would've built there if they really wanted to, regardless of the tax rate. They probably just wanted to lend an air of legitimacy to "don't tax us or we'll leave" by pretending to be interested.

Crime has declined so much over the last 50 years that we can reduce it further without devolving into Black Mirror techno-fascism, my dude. The risks are way too high. No one should control that kind of power, it's too much risk that one person or one small group could take over it and wreak serious havoc.

Even if you assume they would have backed out of the school and the infrastructure, a HQ isn't the same as an Amazon warehouse and would have brought a huge number of high paying white collar tech and c-suite jobs, which itself is a massive gain for the area and a source of tax revenue. And even if you believe they were just pretending to get a better deal elsewhere that doesn't justify tanking the deal.

Do you have a single, concrete, objective reason for why the HQ opening up in that area would have actually be bad? Or are you just bored so you're trolling to kill time?
