I still argue with people at work about this, from time to time. It always looked blue and black to me, but i'm outnumbered 10 to 1 at my office. my coworkers even act like i'm the idiot knowing the dress is black and blue

tilting it forward produces white/gold, tilting it back produces blue/black

well, i do have a 10 year old laptop. I'm sure newer monitors don't darken or wash out colors when you tilt them

the lightened image looks more white/gold, but to me the darkened image still looks brown/light blue like the original

The pixels might not literally be black, but my brain can't interpret the dress as anything other than black and blue with bad lighting/position/whatev

Has nothing to do with what you consciously think, but how your brain perceives the image

the wiki page posted earlier is actually really interesting because this dress exposes some aspects of perception that we dont often think about

I know the dress is blue and black. I've seen the picture of the actual thing with no ambiguity at all. I still can't see it as anything other than white and gold. I'm trying to mentally apply a yellow filter and it just doesn't work that way with my brain.

Yea it is man. Mall/department store, same shit. I didn't have the context back then either but it was always what I saw

It's clearly inside an unnaturally brightly lit place, at the very least
