All 8 parties in Riksdagen agree on a bill which will come into effect on January 1st 2022. The bill states that an MP who is absent from 60% of votes during a 3 month period will get their pay cancelled.

I think it should be even stricter but it is a step in the right direction.

I'd like to say that the concept that you can not show up for work 40% of the time and still get paid in full is disgusting, but it's probably the strictest law like this in the world.

Yeah I totally agree with you. Imagine if an employee somewhere else tried to pull that off.

Isn't it even laxer? If they show up less than 60%, they get a tillsgelse, and then if they keep doing it they risk getting docked pay.

I read it again and Yeah, you get a warning the first time. Then it is no pay if you do it a second time.

To be fair, there's more to being a riksdagsledamot than voting in riksdagen. There's utskottsarbete, partigruppsarbete, lobbyarbete, osv. Presence during votes is not a very sharp measure of a riksdagsledamot's work, which would speak in favor of the low threshold of 60%
