Like in New York, that's gotta be really expensive if you eat out 3 times a day, 5 days a week.

Apartments in NYC with like one bedroom and the toilet being in the bedroom are like $3000 a month. Everyone there is rich

It's not 3 times a day, 5 days a week. But the hustle and bustle of city life does make it a bit of a necessity to order out more often. You're usually sitting in traffic for 30-45 minutes one way to and from work, so even if you work 9-5, you're leaving home at 8:15 and getting home at 5:30/5:45 ish. No one has time or energy to friggin' cook after that shit. This is why prepping meals for the whole week and freezing them became a thing, to reduce the reliance on takeout and fast food. But not every meal every day.

But I live in Pittsburgh which is a much smaller city than say, New York, Chicago or Philadelphia so maybe in those cities eating takeout all 5 days of the week really is prevalent.

Cost of living though. In Pittsburgh my profession as an accountant makes like half what I would make in NYC. But it ironically buys a much better quality of life here tbh.

But I have a cousin who lived in NYC, the goal is to hopefully save up and buy a home either in NJ, or in Queens. That's like the goal you shoot for there I guess.

Like I was actually offered an opportunity to move and work for my company's branch in NYC, but it would have been on my current salary with same exact pay, no raise. After calculating the expected cost of living it equated to roughly a 40% paycut or something crazy like that. Happily declined the offer.
