I guess that's one way of discouraging people from coming to your country.

Having a democratic socialist welfare state with a generous safety net and having a country with open borders are mutually exclusive goals.
If you give tons of benefits out to everybody but allow anybody in w/o being selective (like, people w/ skills or specialized careers), you'll attract a larger % of people just looking to mooch and the whole welfare system will eventually collapse.

Oddly, the political left embraces both and the political right opposes both.
Logically, you'd think there'd be a populist party that fights for strong welfare and UBI and restricting immigration vs. a "pro-business" party fighting for no borders or restrictions at all on trade or immigration (more laborers = cheaper labor).

Sweden, take notes!

Not that I'm opposed to immigration. Just don't go overboard like how we did a few of years ago.

TIL only immigrants can be lazy "moochers" and apparently allowing people to become citizens over time is the same as "open borders"

If people want to put in the effort to become citizens, which I'm not sure how it works in Denmark, but in the US that can mean years of putting into the system and not getting everything (or anything) back out, I don't see why they aren't entitled to the benefits as well. The idea that they're inherently worse or more exploitive is extremely racist

The current U.S. system where it takes a long time to become a citizen is definitely not "open borders" policy, and no one would claim it is.
It's not about how many "lazy" people a country already has, that's the country's problem to handle. The point is to not take on a ton more of them when those people are NOT the country's problem. Never claimed they were inherently worse. A country can't and shouldn't deport its own natural born citizens because they can't/won't contribute. But it also should be careful about letting in a lot more non-contributors if it offers very generous social policies, because then it'll reach a tipping point where there's not enough people supporting said system vs. the amount of people reliant upon it.

But thanks for putting words in my mouth and insulting me.

Or maybe people just hate living in a country with no opportunity and a dictatorship ya know sort of like what America is becoming slowly. America was founded on the idea that people wanted opportunities and they found it in those colonies with well slavery.

immigrants generally contribute far more to society than your average citizen, thats been true for the entire history of our country

He seems to be inventing an imaginary problem where immigrants can wander in with no strings attached and get handed everything so that he can blame it on immigrants. Even if that was happening it sounds to me like that would be a problem with the welfare system. There are so many bureaucratic hoops to jump through that you can't really "cheat" the system other than overstaying residency which isn't really an inherently harmful thing

Like in a lot of countries, immigration to Denmark is quite easy if you have enough money. Its certain rules for certain people.
