tbh around this time is when I fell out of playing Sonic games in general.

only Sonic games since 06 that I've played are Unleashed, Mania, and Black Knight

That was the first 3D Sonic game I didn't like (although Heroes is currently my least favorite. might need to reevaluate Secret Rings at some point). I did love the music though.

If they have Sonic Mania gameplay with the graphics of the Classic Sonic levels of Sonic Forces I genuinely think that they'd have a runaway success on their hands.

Sonic just suits 2D so much more that 3D, and if they went all-in on the 2D but made it look modern so as not to put off the younger or more casual market then Sonic could be as big as it was in the 90s, I truly believe that.

I still stand by the Sonic Adventure games. By all means cut out Big, but I love everything else about them. I really want to see another game done in that style with a bit more polish.

The game becomes playable and even somewhat enjoyable when you unlock the right controls. But having to actually unlock better controls? The controls should be as good as possible from the start, yet they're dog shit once you start playing
