Where the fuck do these people think we are getting so much money? Wages are down and jobs are down. Everyone is broke.

Why does our government not do something about this stuff? The cost of living is sadistic right now and it keeps going up. It said the CEO was giddy on the phone talking about it.

If Americans weren't so stupid, there would be an uprising right about now.

I live in Texas and I've been trying to use this as a teaching moment for some of the right-wingers I know to explain who is fucking them over and how. All I've gotten in response is "AOC, green energy, socialism bad." I do not think these people are reachable.

That won't happen as long as Texas Republicans remain in power in the state legislature.

This. Part of why I have a real hard time being terribly empathetic towards the plight of Texans rn.

Freezing or paying $300/day to heat your home to own the libs

Sounds like the sort of issues youd expect in socialist Venezuela. Not US.

Wow. I actually misread this earlier. It says that the guy owes $8,000+ for one month when he paid $390 last month. I thought it said he owed $1,800 this month which was enough to outrage me, but $8,000/month?

The most disturbing thing is that the state government isnt doing anything to stop this. My hope is that the entire state doesnt pay them one cent.

most people don't like seeing a water shutoff valve in their master bedroom or family room or kitchen. So the garage is a good place to put it. But a garage, of course, is uninsulated.

Do they not have basements there

my water shut off valve is in the storage/utility room next to the furnace in my basement

My family in Oklahoma dont have them either - apparently they literally cant build basements because of the way the ground is or something. Guess its the same in Texas

bit ironic that you cant build basements in an area regularly fucked by tornadoes

The water table is literally just below ground. Inches in the case of Houston.

I dont think its really feasible to have a basement without some pretty big construction costs.
