I heard someone say "Sometimes in life you get dealt a hand with two 2's" but that could easily be a winning hand. What if another pair pops onto the table or another 2? Then you've got three of a kind and that can be an asskicking hand. I've got a cousin who's a little special and he's one of the best poker players I know, because the cards he's holding often don't matter in the slightest.
