If vaccination distribution goes well throughout the year, I can see everything going back to normal by the end of the year or next year

Its hard to imagine public schools not re-opening this year along with sports games or all other events not returning with fans

Also, it won't be normal as you know it.

Probably never. Unless there is a cure formulated, we're going to be on eggshells for decades to come. We've had the common cold and the flu for centuries despite efforts to cure them.

This is a virus many factors more infectious, especially with the new variants.

Life isn't going to be the same for over a decade when we finally get a complete grasp on vaccines and the culture surrounding them.

Completely? Never. I think masks are here to stay for a lot of people, not because of gov suggestion but because people are just more aware of germs and shit now. At least until the gov decides they dont want people hiding their identity anymore. But things will be returning to a similar version of how we remember them at some point this summer.

Virus won't go away in a vast portion of the population isn't going to get the vaccine. It will just mutate and re-infect the people with the vaccine and we will start all over again.

It's just being realistic. If people did what they were supposed to do we'd all be like New Zealand. Reality is far more disappointing.

Well history can probably tells us from the previous pandemic the country suffered. chart the last time the US was hit with a pandemic. All the advances in infrastructure, technology, medicine, & internet... it was about two years. we are still on the path to those times the "country returns" a century ago. What happened.

2022, but then that's when the economy collapses as the jackasses decide that everyone should be fine after a couple years of pandemic and they suddenly withdraw the meager amount of relief they were providing before people can get back on their feet proper.

it's likely never gonna be the same. I think by Summer we'll get things mostly opened up again. I actually think we'll wear masks through out most of the year and enforce it to people who are sick after.

there's just other variables like the new strain too. Covid unlike flu is all year long.

The world economy is unlikely to handle another Great Recession, and the elite class knows this. They will do whatever it takes to prevent it. This is why all of a sudden you have billionaires becoming more interested in being known as philanthropists rather than Big Oil Guardians like they used to be. Have faith.

They've always been interested in being called philanthropists because it's an image laundering scheme. This has no effect on their greed and they'll happily let everything go to shit as they swoop in and grab an ever greater share of the wealth for pennies on the dollar. Their greed knows no bounds. Trillions of dollars were injected into assets in an instant at the first sign of trouble, meanwhile pandemic relief to the average person is a slow trickle.

If you look at history you'll see that they used to be a lot more flagrant in how hard they'd exploit and harm regular people. From the days of Pharaoh, to royalty, to robber barons, to oil barons, to the remaining billionaire dinosaurs of the Old Guard (Big Oil bootlickers), and now to just some philanthropist types. I'm optimistic that their time is coming to an end and they know it.

You're right though, the fed did too much to prop up assets and not enough to prop up individuals and households. The stimulus we spent so far could've been some $30,000 to $50,000 per household for the entire year, thereby eliminating the pandemic as a crisis and making it just most Americans' first vacation in a long time...Lots of work to do still, but I'm optimistic about people waking up and not gargling the propaganda anymore lol.
