I dont know why, but the idea of another planet crashing into Earth is terrifying to me. If there are any other movies like this, Ill take recommendations.

As in similar story or depressing atmosphere? I think the arthouse movies from that period are similar in theme (or maybe all arthouse movies are the same). Thematically it reminds me of Another Earth.

If you want end of world scenarios there's the recent Greenland with Gerald Butler, Seeking a friend for the end of the world with steve carrell and Kiera Knightley. Then the more blockbuster Deep Impact.

Ive been wanting to watch Greenland for a while. I was shocked to see it got such high ratings after watching Geostorm, which was hilariously bad.

Deep Impact is pretty good, but yeah, its more of a blockbuster disaster movie than a thoughtful, depressing slow burn. Ill check out the others.

Greenland was surprisingly decent. More on the blockbuster side of things, but not completely mindless a la 2012.

I saw that and Another Earth pretty much around the same time back when they were released. Both were pretty good movies and I think of both when either is mentioned. Despite being pretty different.

Melancholia is pretty damn depressing and dreadful. The ending is pretty much the same feeling of desperation and hopelessness you feel on the last day of Majora's Mask.

Either.

Or something with vivid apocalyptic visuals.

Are there any other Lars von Trier movies worth checking out?

I saw Antichrist once and only remember *that* scene, and The House That Jack built was pretty good.

These! And part 1 of Nymphomaniac. (Part 2 kinda sucks though)

But I'm glad people are recommending Another Earth. I really liked that one.
