I'm reminded of that quote from Zero Puntuation

I remember saying about Shattered Memories that chase sequences are scarier if it isn't clear what's chasing you, and Downpour sort of missed my point. It certainly is unclear what the object that chases Murphy through the Otherworldis, but you can clearly see it. It's some wibbly-wobbly black hole with red bits, like something that got lost on its way to the Star Trek visual effects department.

When I said it would be nice if the show was less safe and bland. I didn't mean for random characters for absolutely no reason suddenly go "I wanna gay rape kids now nyeuheheheheheheheh!" then instantly die and never be mentioned again.

That's not interesting, that's Wario level. And still safe, just fucking dumb.

Just seemed to be a bullshit excuse to make Rick and Daryl not feel guilty about murdering a bunch of other human beings.

Speaking as someone who never read the comics, that's not a defense. It's still dumb. Just don't bother adapting that part of the comic if you can't do it right

Usually when the defense is used, it wasn't well done in the comics either.

Although I'm kind of lost whereabouts in the story this is.

Rick is going through a phase where he has just gone through the Governor, Joe's group, and now Terminus. Ruthless people with no remorse. He's seeing that people who have been changed by this apocalypse in a negative light are the majority. When he tore out Joe's throat it was like 'if you can't beat them, join them'. As he, Penguin and the others were kneeling, Gareth and his men just walked about as if it was another casual day talking business as they were about to slaughter several people for meat. No final words, just dead. While horrific what happened in the church seemed somewhat justified. It was kill or be killed by these people.

The next 8 episodes will focus not only on Beth but Rick's internal struggle on whether he can trust the outside.
