I'd say after Obama came into office. you had comedians saying Obama just isn't funny and it wouldn't be right to make fun of him, etc.
that's the general perception I got. then later you had morons like Michelle Wolf and Samantha Bee and Steve Colbert's non-humor humor. where laughter basically turned into a validation of lefty politics and nothing else. meanwhile someone like Chappelle made fun of literally everyone and didn't care. ...
