I haven't tried to quit but I've cut down a lot. I used to go months without a break from drinking and a break would be 1 or 2 nights only. Nowadays I typically don't drink for more than a week at a time and breaks are anywhere from a few days to 1-2 weeks. Not ideal but improving and holding. Withdrawal typically fades starting after a day or two, and the nausea is the worst of it. I don't mind the insomnia anymore and the less anxiety I have about it, the less it happens.
