Do you have beef with them using real life dead cats for this biology scene?
Vote
The controversy unfolded when a user posted about a friend in the industry who said someone brought in real dead kittens for background dissection on set with no warning and people were TRAUMATIZED According to Variety, 2 background actors were so disturbed by the cat cadavers that they walked off set and threw up That same user also posted that one of the cameramn also tested positive for COVID-19 and said the cast should have been told earlier rather than waiting until the end of day 2 HBO Max addressed the controversies and reiterate that the show strives to depict "the unfiltered experiences of high school students and is drawn from many formative moments in the lives of the show's writers" referring to 19 y/o Zelda Barnz and her father Daiel They said the production filmed scenes depicting a classroom assignment involving dissection of animal specimens as they were ethically sourced in consultation with American Humane, a biological supply company that works with schools HBO also confirmed that every actor was informed of the real cat cadavers would be used in advance and it would be a sensitive scene involving a real disection as they had assistant directors who checked regularly on the welfare of those on set and confirmed 2 "student" actors walked off with full pay However, after discussion with the creative team, they decided to CUT the scene from the series and they deeply regret the decision The twitter user however said they were told they were dissecting frogs but showed up with dead kittens and were expected to stay with contradicted the statement Dunham said "I am committed in my life and work to the principled, humane and ethical treatment of animals. I don't use animal cadavers in any of my work, ever, and i was not on set or aware that they were used in a recently shot scene depicting a biology classroom assignment. i fully support the scene being edited out of the show". Reaction online has been DIVIDED as others said the dissection of cats were REAL in american schools but thought it was DISGUSTING to still use cats in the scene while others said the use of real cats is realistic in terms of high school biology as many schools did use them in their biology classes Do you think using real life dead cats in this scene was wrong? https://i.imgur.com/9K4a4fJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Rr9aLmB.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VNaUcjR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bbd4nLS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/L0jhBdZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Eu4PKuR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/N3oOvpC.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jDmdmtS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/DHWeIzO.jpg https://i.imgur.com/K6bA9Pf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/NyEQANu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MtkTFx4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3dFdzaz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qct1s5o.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UepZbYE.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IBFX1hm.jpg --- The News Will Continue...For Now call me mrduckbear, sweater monkeys. I would imagine part of the reason they used frogs, back in the day, was because no one cared about frogs.
Do classes still do dissections? Neither of the high schools I attended had that as part of science courses to my knowledge. So unless this is set decades ago I don't even see how it is realistic, is there any high school in this country that had kids mutilate kittens? ... Copied to Clipboard!

They are stray cats that got ran over. I remember dissecting these in high school and actually have pretty funny story with these. One of my biology teachers for whatever bizarre reason had a drawer full of dissected cat heads, like a good 10 or so. I thought they were pretty cool and ended up stealing one and put it in my closet at home for safe keeping. However, it stank all the hell with formaldehyde, so my room ended up smelling like total shit, so I decided to get rid of it. So I brought it to school and at gym class when everyone was changing I chucked the cat head at some gang banger wantabee (we were are in the bloody suburbs for crying out loud), which started a chain reaction with everyone lobbing the dead cat head in retaliation at one another. The chaos was so satisfying, as was seeing the gym teachers looking at the dead cat head wondering what could have went wrong in their lives to deserve their fate. Good times.

I would imagine part of the reason they used frogs, back in the day, was because no one cared about frogs. I graduated in 2008 and we dissected fetal pigs in my high school biology class. Dissected a sheep's eye in my college biology course. And I was lucky enough to take an intensive human anatomy course in college too with an actual cadaver even though I didn't need the class at all. ... Copied to Clipboard!
