woke up to a damaged mailbox, but fixable. took almost an hour in the snow and cold and traffic, but got it done. as i was working, i thought i noticed some other damage i couldn't fix, and the last thing i did was take off a cover to see if i could see it better. said cover was over the sharp corners of the post keeping everything in the ground. so of course, that's the exact moment i decide that i don't need to be standing upright any more. my face misses said corners by basically nothing on the way down. i honestly don't even know how. i think i instinctively pushed away as i was slipping. the only damage ended up being a nail broken all the way to the fingertip.

i had that happen before. glad your alive. maybe yours will grow normally. mine will always have a dent in which i have to peel it off whenever they grow in full.

no, i think you misunderstand. it was only as if i clipped it super close. no real damage at all.

also, thanks all for the words. i think my heart rate has finally gotten back down to normal.

Start taking biotin and it might grow back. I had a dent in my thumbnail for years (scraped it against metal really hard while I was working as an electrician) and it didn't start making significant progress until I took biotin

glad you're ok dude. when i worked in a warehouse, a forklift failure caused a load (wooden box filled with steel machine spareparts) to collapse and i almost got crushed if i hadn't the instinct to run.

i was still feeling it for a while after i woke up, maybe it's different but that moment i kinda understand what adrenaline junkies are going for because i felt clear especially the first few hour or so.

Im gonna be completely honest here, Ive re-read your original post like 3-4 times and I still dont comprehend at all what youre describing. I guess Im just dumb or dont have any experience with these kinds of things. Like I cant picture anything at all in the slightest in my head of what youre talking about, other than a mailbox and snow. And I think you fell? Idk tbh. Is there like a visual or a YouTube video or something similar online thats comparable so I can see it?

lol. yeah, i was definitely still a little weird when i posted.

so, the mailboxes are mounted on a wooden pole driven into the ground. basically just a square cut block of wood. it has a metal slip cover around it, with a square piece on the top for decoration and to keep the corners of the pole and slip cover from being exposed.

as i was reattaching the mailboxes to the wooden pole, it looked like it might have split. so the very last thing i did was take the cover off to see if the wood had split all the way to the top. not smart me did this from the yard side, instead of the road side. the yard side has a bit of a slope to it, combined with the snow that i had been slowly turning into ice as i worked... i drop, very suddenly. i was maybe a few inches over the corners of the pole. somehow i missed. even missing, i ended up face down in a few inches of snow, and enough out of the sightlines of the traffic that i don't think anyone would have noticed from the road had i knocked myself out. assuming i wouldn't have broken my nose or eye or worse in the first place.
