Not just a twist on the original game's boss but also one that crescendos the story in a genuinely touching way, done elegantly without ham-fisted dialogue

Super metroid's end is quite good, but I vastly prefer the final battle of ocarina of Time tbh. 10/10 atmosphere for the whole sequence, starting from the tower climb accompanied by the organ.

Twilight Princess I would put above Super metroid's as well, a really really good ending sequence

It's the most cinematic retro fight for sure. Even something like Link versus Ganon in Ocarina of Time pales in comparison.

I'm a huge Godzilla fan, and Bowser is my favorite Mario character, but I still have to admit that Super Metroid ekes it out.

Going solely by gameplay, I'll concede that Yoshi's Island has the better boss fight. Come to think of it, it may collectively have the best boss fights of any SNES game. I can't really think of another where they're so consistently good. Salvo the Slime is probably the weakest link and even that's a fun boss fight.

Totally agreed

The feeling of just annihilating mother brain with the hyper beam was insane

Shoutout to Fusions ending as well. The SA-X deeming the Omega Metroid to be a bigger threat than Samus, and knowing that it's best chance at survival was giving itself to Samus was incredible
